SB-Möbel BOSS cuts stocktaking count time from four days to four hours

As one of Germany’s largest furniture retailers, SB-Möbel BOSS faced a monumental task every time it conducted its annual stocktaking. With significant disruptions to day-to-day operations, the full stocktaking count at all stores dragged on for several days. The decision to adopt REMIRA’s cloud-based sample stocktaking software brought significant relief: the time required for stocktaking was reduced to just four hours per store.

SB-Möbel BOSS, a company of the porta Group, operates more than 90 stores throughout Germany. Its product range includes furniture, kitchens, and home accessories, which are sold both through its stores and its own online shop. Since 1982, SB-Möbel BOSS has stood for a combination of excellent value for money and practical solutions for every room. Until now, stocktaking in the stores and affiliated warehouses were conducted using a full-count method. To simplify this multi-day and very time-consuming stocktaking process, the company decided last year to implement a stocktaking software.

Successful trial stocktaking as the starting point

SB-Möbel BOSS learned about REMIRA through a recommendation.

After the contract was signed, the REMIRA sample stocktaking was then carried out in the other stores. Contrary to the concerns of some employees, all sample stocktakings were successfully completed and fully accepted by the auditor. This allowed the colleagues to use the equipment they were already familiar with for the count.

Intuitive software guidance simplifies the stocktaking process

The REMIRA SaaS solution for sample stocktaking guides users step by step through the stocktaking process without the need for installations or administrative effort. Through an integration with the company’s ERP system, all necessary data is seamlessly transferred to the REMIRA software. The software then defines the samples to be counted and automatically generates the corresponding count lists. The actual counting can be performed either traditionally using paper lists or digitally using mobile devices. The software automatically evaluates the entered data. Finally, the determined actual inventory is transferred to the ERP system.

No more disruptions to sales operations due to stocktaking

Before the REMIRA software was introduced, individual stores were fully occupied with the time-consuming full stocktaking, which led to significant disruptions to day-to-day sales operations.

“About 10 people used to spend four to five days conducting the stocktaking. With the sample stocktaking software, we can now complete the count in about four hours with just eight employees. This has allowed us to reduce the time and labor required by about 90 percent. Our customers benefit as well: We usually start two hours before opening time, so the count only interferes with morning operations for a maximum of two hours. This way, we avoid disruptions and no longer have to close off areas to customers.”
