Focus on Growth: Bucking the industry trend, the Hanseatic family-owned company CB Mode is growing steadily. Most recently, two new stores were opened in Hanover and Stralsund. To meet the resulting increased demands on point-of-sale systems, inventory management, and customer communication, CB Mode has been relying on REMIRA’s commerce solutions since March 2025—a milestone for the company’s digital future.

With more than 100 top brands across a total of 22,000 m² of retail space in eight stores, CB Mode offers a unique shopping experience in northern Germany. The company, with a long tradition in the fashion industry, is a division of Christian Beutin GmbH & Co. KG based in Lübeck. The previous software could no longer keep pace with the growth and demands of modern retail. CB Mode reached its limits particularly in the area of point-of-sale systems: until now, each register had to be programmed manually, and master data had to be imported locally. Technical problems led to system outages and high IT overhead. “We couldn’t allocate additional IT resources for every new store. We needed a system that is scalable and automates processes,” explains Niklas Kieckbusch, Head of Digitalization & Supply Chain at CB Mode.

The Goal: Digital Store Management

Kieckbusch found what he was looking for with the Dortmund-based software provider REMIRA. Their omnichannel solutions enable retailers to offer a consistent and seamless customer experience across all channels—both in brick-and-mortar stores and in the online shop. As part of the project at CB Mode, three key REMIRA solutions were implemented: a unified point-of-sale system for all stores, a mobile store management app for inventory checks, merchandise receipts, stock transfers, and returns, and a merchandise management system with EDI interfaces to suppliers and third-party providers. In addition, the existing CB customer app was integrated, allowing customers to manage their purchases, discounts, and bonus coupons. With this, CB Mode has created a unified commerce architecture—from store logistics to customer interaction at the POS.

Technical Advantages and Significantly Greater Efficiency

The go-live brought immediately noticeable improvements: the new registers can be replaced within minutes—for example, in the event of a malfunction—or implemented in new stores. Master data is automatically loaded from the server, eliminating the need for manual configuration. Thanks to the automated processes, goods receipt and inventory management are now digital and error-free.

“A comprehensive check of incoming goods was previously impossible due to a lack of technical support. Today, using the REMIRA software, we can immediately verify whether the delivery is correct,”

Kieckbusch explains the new procedure.

98% of CB Mode’s suppliers are connected via EDI. Sales and inventory data flow automatically into the merchandise management system, and reorders are placed without delay. Error rate: virtually zero. Mobile Store Management via the app is used at all eight locations—for receiving goods, stock transfers, returns, and inventory queries directly on the sales floor. This also pleases Niklas Kieckbusch:

“It was important to us that we could answer our customers’ questions right on the sales floor, for example, whether a specific item is currently available at another store. Now we can check that right away on our smartphones and don’t have to leave the customer alone to run to a computer. This greatly improves the quality of our advice and customer satisfaction.”

Simplifying Promotions and Improving Customer Communication

Filiale von CB Mode von innenPartnerships and promotions are a key part of CB Mode’s strategy. With the new POS solution, the fashion retailer can now centrally manage discount promotions. The POS system automatically determines which promotions can be combined—a major advantage for store teams. The customer app is also tightly integrated: purchases appear in the app within seconds, including bonus points and discounts. “Today, our communication takes place via social media and the app—no longer through letters or newspaper ads. Around 200,000 customers use the app,” reports Kieckbusch.

Among other things, CB Mode relies on REMIRA’s standard interfaces and APIs to transfer POS data, invoices, and accounts payable to third-party systems. The fashion company is currently also implementing REMIRA’s payment processing software. The integrated solution handles in-store card payments at the point of sale and in online retail. In addition to all standard payment methods, payment providers such as PayPal, Klarna, and VISA can also be integrated. The Stralsund store has already made the switch, and all other stores are set to follow.

Conclusion: A Successful Start into the Digital Future

With the go-live of the REMIRA Commerce solutions, CB Mode has laid the foundation for digital, transparent, and customer-centric processes. The advantages are clear: scalable, cloud-based systems with interfaces to automated merchandise management and inventory control, plus seamless omnichannel integration for improved customer communication and service quality. Niklas Kieckbusch sums it up this way:

“We’ve not only gained technically, but also organizationally. The processes are stable, and we’re ready for further growth.”
