Moda Decurtins keeps track of store inventory with REMIRA's Cloud-based merchandise management system

Reliable data and a better in-store customer experience: By choosing the REMIRA retail management system, Moda Decurtins has paved the way for the digital transformation of this long-established family-owned business. Thanks to the cloud solution and an EDI connection, the Swiss fashion retailer benefits from transparent inventory, automated processes, and greater control over its product range, warehouse, and stores.
Moda Decurtins is a family-run fashion retailer with locations in Ilanz and Disentis and currently carries around 9,000 items of women’s and men’s fashion. As a fashion company with deep regional roots, the retailer places great emphasis on a customized product range. For many items, only a small number are intentionally purchased. At the same time, sizes, colors, and items must be carefully managed between the two stores to prevent customers from the same regions from wearing the same clothes. The merchandise must therefore be strategically distributed between the two stores. The broad product range and low quantities per item require fast and clear inventory monitoring.
Store owner Sascha Decurtins explains: “We had been working with a software solution for about 20 years that reliably met our needs. When that solution was discontinued, we had to look for a new system.” However, the search for a suitable alternative proved more difficult than expected. The software initially chosen turned out to be unsuitable for day-to-day operations. For example, checking inventory sometimes took so long that employees and customers had to wait in front of the screen until it became clear whether a specific size or color was available at the second store. While searching again for a suitable solution, the company finally came across REMIRA.
Why Moda Decurtins chose REMIRA
In its search for a suitable solution, the company compared various providers. Through a retailer network, Moda Decurtins eventually learned about REMIRA Schweiz AG. The deciding factors were, in particular, the professional presentation, the features, and the compelling value for money offered by the REMIRA software, as Sascha Decurtins explains:
“The selection process wasn’t focused solely on the lowest price. After our experience with a cheaper alternative, we were looking for a reliable and professional solution. When comparing three providers, REMIRA’s inventory management system ultimately stood out thanks to its balanced value for money.”
The cloud-based all-in-one solution for inventory management and point-of-sale is specifically designed for small retailers with up to ten stores. It helps retail companies manage inventory transparently, automate day-to-day business processes, and make informed purchasing decisions. Moda Decurtins uses the REMIRA solution for, among other things, merchandise receipt, inventory planning, and a cross-store overview. For example, the company uses the purchasing recommendations and the automatic reordering of “never-out-of-stock” (NOS) items. The two point-of-sale systems are also operated via the software.
How the REMIRA software optimizes day-to-day store operations
REMIRA Merchandise management software provides management with a crucial information foundation for day-to-day operations. In addition to goods receiving and purchasing, the system analyzes sales, margins, seasonal trends, and customer information, among other metrics. This has enabled Moda Decurtins to gain better control over its product assortment and inventory levels, as the managing director emphasizes:
“One thing we’ve definitely achieved with REMIRA is better control over our inventory. Out-of-stock situations have become significantly less frequent, and product availability has improved considerably.”
In addition, the software has significantly optimized the overview of products, which also improves the in-store customer experience because wait times during consultations are shorter:
“You can always quickly and clearly see where a specific item in a certain size and color is located. That used to take us a lot of time. This process is not only more efficient for us, but it also positively impacts our customers’ shopping experience.”
Major efficiency gains through EDI integration
Following the implementation of the cloud-based inventory management solution and two point-of-sale systems in 2022, Moda Decurtins expanded the solution two years later to include REMIRA’s Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) module. This automated numerous processes, resulting in significant efficiency gains for the retailer:
“Product information no longer has to be laboriously entered manually. This significantly reduces the administrative workload, especially for larger shipments. Whereas product details such as colors, sizes, and materials used to have to be entered manually, today I can enter 200 items and the information is automatically populated,”
says Decurtins, describing the time savings in administrative processes.
Informed decisions for business success
The successful collaboration between Moda Decurtins and REMIRA demonstrates how even small or medium-sized, family-run businesses can benefit from a modern cloud-based merchandise management system. Experience continues to play an important role in fashion buying, but it is now supplemented by reliable data: Instead of making decisions based solely on gut instinct, Moda Decurtins uses the metrics from the REMIRA inventory management system as the primary basis for decision-making.
“Today, when it comes to purchasing, we rely about 80% on the numbers from REMIRA and 20% on our gut feeling.”
