Custom Chrome Europe: stocktaking effort reduced by 99%

Whether brakes, exhaust or engine: if your Harley is no longer running smoothly, Custom Chrome Europe always has the right spare part. In order to carry out the stocktaking of more than 30,000 spare parts and accessories faster and more effectively, Europe's leading wholesaler specializing in the Harley-Davidson aftermarket has been relying on sample stocktaking with REMIRA STATCONTROL Cloud since the end of 2022. The company is thus replacing the time-consuming and costly full stocktaking on the reporting date and was already able to reduce the count volume by 99% during the first implementation.

Custom Chrome Europe GmbH (CCE), based in Grolsheim, Germany, offers a fast and smooth specialist dealer dispatch service for the Harley-Davidson aftermarket with over 25,000 different spare parts in stock. Last year, the company decided to look for an alternative to the previous key date inventory.

While searching the Internet, David Möhring from Controlling at Custom Chrome Europe came across REMIRA and the sample stocktaking solution REMIRA STATCONTROL: "Previously, we counted all items and storage locations in the warehouse at least once. This process was very time-consuming. We opted for STATCONTROL Cloud because of the innovative and modern front end and the easy-to-understand handling of the application." The SaaS solution from REMIRA combines all the familiar advantages of sample stocktaking, such as the reduced counting effort of more than 95%, with the simple and fast functionality of a guided cloud solution in the browser or on mobile devices.

Counting scope reduced by almost 99%

The full stocktaking process at Custom Chrome lasted three days, mostly from Friday to Sunday, with the pure counting effort taking place on the first two stocktaking days. On average, 55 people were involved in the stocktake, including 10-15 external temporary staff. During the inventory, approx. 40,000 storage spaces were counted by scanner. On the Friday of the stocktaking process, no goods were dispatched and no day-to-day operations took place.

Thanks to the SaaS solution STATCONTROL Cloud, only 30 people were involved in the current stocktake.

"No more external staff were needed, we counted with almost the entire workforce in order to complete the count as quickly as possible. We also didn't have to worry about additional equipment. The time required to evaluate the inventory data was therefore greatly reduced and we were able to dispatch goods on the same day. Overall, the stocktaking with STATCONTROL Cloud was completed in half a day and ran smoothly," explains David Möhring.

The data was imported the evening before the stocktake, allowing the employees to start counting the 430 samples the very next morning. If there were any discrepancies in the first count, the samples were counted a second time, which directly improved the quality of the counting results. After the complete count, the results were reported back to STATCONTROL Cloud via file. The successful result and the necessary evaluations were available immediately.
