medac GmbH introduces sample stocktaking with REMIRA STATCONTROL
Counting only 50 items instead of 500: The globally active German pharmaceutical company medac GmbH successfully carried out its first sample stocktaking service with REMIRA STATCONTROL in March. medac is the only German pharmaceutical company to offer both therapeutics and diagnostics from its own development and production. In their search for certified inventory software, those responsible at medac came across STATCONTROL.
The software systems from REMIRA, one of the leading providers of supply chain and commerce solutions, use the legally permissible statistical procedures to replace error-prone and costly full counts with considerably more efficient and reliable sampling procedures. It only took around two months from the initial contact with REMIRA to the implementation of the census. Lukas Schulz, Teamlead Indirect Procurement at medac GmbH, is completely satisfied with the result:
“The reduced counting effort is a great relief for us. We store more than 100,000 items in a total of 400 warehouses at 30 locations and use fully automated storage systems with a large capacity. It was not feasible for us to carry out a full survey on the balance sheet date, which is why we decided on sample stocktaking. To carry out the inventory, it was necessary to determine the samples according to a statistical procedure approved by the auditors. REMIRA STATCONTROL fulfills this requirement.”
Quick and easy stocktaking
medac is a dynamically growing pharmaceutical company with more than 2,000 employees that develops, produces and distributes pharmaceuticals, medical devices and diagnostics. One focus is on the treatment of cancer and autoimmune diseases. medac is regarded as a leading specialist provider in oncology and rheumatology and its products are sold in more than 90 countries. The company is headquartered in Wedel near Hamburg, while the logistics center is located in nearby Tornesch. STATCONTROL carried out the stocktaking service at both locations in March, which went quickly and smoothly.
“We sent the data to the responsible employee at REMIRA in the evening. They were processed immediately in the software so that we received the count list the same evening and were able to count directly the next day. We opted for the sequential test to check our warehouses. The sample size was many times smaller than before; only 50 containers had to be counted instead of 500.”
For at least the next five years, medac will carry out sample stocktaking with STATCONTROL, and from next year for the first time independently and online with the SaaS solution STATCONTROL CLOUD.
