MedicAir: Stock optimization thanks to LOGOMATE

MedicAir approached REMIRA with the main objective of optimizing their procurement process. Specifically, they were looking for a suitable solution for stock planning, management, and distribution with the aim of reducing manual efforts and improving inventory management. The perfect software for their needs turned out to be LOGOMATE, which could integrate with their 2 different ERPs.

The challenges of the project lay firstly in the very large amount of data and items and secondly in the complexity of suppliers, sub-suppliers, and warehouses, among which orders and inventory management needed to be coordinated.

In addition, it was crucial that the system be able to optimally manage 4 key activities for MEDICAIR:

  • Optimization of the security stock level of items
  • Optimizing transfers between branches
  • Ensure proper management and visibility of batch expiration
  • Implement custom classification of high/low rotating items for better exception management.

The project was carried out in two phases:

  1. Central Warehouse Management: At this stage, the focus is on central warehouse management and involves purchasing managers and a project manager. All supplier, item, and warehouse master information has been uploaded. LOGOMATE interacts with existing ERPs to determine the quantity of each item needed in the various warehouses, thus avoiding out-of-stock or overload situations. This phase was successfully completed, bringing significant savings in buyer labor hours and allowing some purchasing processes to be automated, thus giving the ability to focus on the most critical items.
  2. Activation of Regional Warehouses: The second phase involves the activation of regional warehouses to enable the transfer of goods between them to ensure proper stock levels in order to intervene in a timely manner in cases of new patient activations and to deal with emergencies. This phase potentially involves about 30 regional branches organized to order first from Headquarters with the possibility of requesting a partial and/or total transfer from other regional warehouses in case of excess stock. LOGOMATE manages transfer orders between these warehouses and facilitates the monitoring of SKUs with excess stock to propose a possible transfer without risking an OoS ( Out of Stock) situation.

 

The overall goal of the project is to reduce manual efforts in purchasing, improve inventory forecasting, enable management by exception, increase flexibility and responsiveness, minimize inventory, avoid stock-out situation, and improve timeliness and accuracy of data.

This project presents unique challenges due to the complexity of the company and the need to integrate several ERP systems. However, LOGOMATE aims to significantly improve MedicAir's inventory management and overall efficiency.
