41.450 employees, 13,18 billion Euro turnover – this is SPAR – one of the biggest private employers in Austria as well as the most growing company in the Austrian food trading sector. Including locations in northeastern Italy, Slovenia, Hungary and Croatia the SPAR Austria Group employees 75.000 workers. More than 1.600 stores and more than 1 million square meters of selling space enable a high market presence and a wide-ranged product pallet. Depending on the type of business between 1.800 and 50.000 different articles are offered for sale. The assortment includes fresh and regional food like milk, fruits and vegetables as well as imported and promotional goods. Also at a lot of other sectors – e.g. assortment management, logistics or usage of modern technology – are in focus of improvements at SPAR and they manage to set new standards as well at the inventory management. Therefore SPAR ICS – the own company for IT – decided to work with REMIRA (former LOG:IT).
By the implementation of the software MPD covering forecast, demand planning, disposition and inventory management SPAR Austria managed to optimize goods availability as well as fitting stock. MPD supports the leading ERP system by delivering proposals for transportation and order logistics in order to minimize storage and gain an ideal deliverability.
