PUFAS will optimize its scheduling with REMIRA LOGOMATE

PUFAS Werk KG, a manufacturer of craft and renovation products from Hann. Münden, has been using REMIRA's LOGOMATE inventory optimization software to manage its warehouse stock since the middle of the year. The objectives are demand-oriented and proactive scheduling, the avoidance of out-of-stock situations and the relief of employees.

PUFAS is a manufacturer and distributor of renovation products for the professional and DIY sector with headquarters in Hann. The company employs around 280 people and offers a comprehensive product portfolio with around 3,000 items. In addition to the core competencies in the areas of pastes, adhesives and fillers, it also includes numerous special products such as primers, paints and special cleaners. These articles and the primary materials for the company's own production are stored in three high-bay warehouses with a total of around 26,000 storage spaces at the site.

Until now, these items have been managed by a small team of buyers in collaboration with warehouse colleagues and with the help of Excel lists in an ERP system. However, this static system cannot take into account seasonal effects, short-term additional requirements, promotional periods or customer SKUs in the customer stores. The challenge is therefore to manage a dynamic product range with high stock value fluctuations.

"We want to switch from a relatively rigid inventory management system to a proactive, consumption-based inventory management system in order to work more efficiently and target-oriented with our warehouse capacities,"

explains Simon Kühne, Purchasing Manager at PUFAS Werk KG. At the same time, the aim is to provide greater support to employees in the planning department and thus reduce their workload.

Daily calculation for precise forecasts

The LOGOMATE inventory management software from the Dortmund-based software provider REMIRA offers such an efficient and demand-driven solution for inventory optimization. The software is simply connected to the existing ERP system and creates precise short, medium and long-term forecasts based on historical sales data from the stock keeping units and factors such as seasonal trends and promotional periods. In the daily calculations, the software takes into account the dynamic safety stock and, for example, changing delivery conditions. LOGOMATE therefore always calculates both the optimum order time and the optimum order quantity in order to be able to precisely adjust the entire inventory. Continuous adaptation to current company developments takes place without time-consuming manual intervention. This reduces the out-of-stock risk; stock quantities and warehouse utilization are optimized and employees are relieved considerably.

The new inventory management system also has a positive effect on production. By controlling replenishment for production items, the software has a direct influence on production planning and control. In particular, however, the automatic and sufficient supply of packaging materials thanks to the link with LOGOMATE increases efficiency in this area.

says Kühne. By optimizing supply chain management, PUFAS is ensuring that it will be able to react more flexibly to the developments and requirements of the industry in the future.
